Players bet against the casino on the outcome of one or a series of rolls of the dice. The shooter, the player who throws the dice, is presented five dice by the stickman and picks two of the five and must make the minimum table bet on either the "pass" line or the "don't pass" line to play.

There are four casino employees that run the craps table, "The Boxman" who guards the chips and supervises "The Dealers", two of them, who collect the bets and "The Stickman" who announces the results of the dice thrown, in charge of the bets placed and who collect the dice with a long wooden stick.
